CNC Turned Parts

CNC Turned Parts are machined on lathes from bar stock, which allows accurate diameters, tight concentricity and complex internal features that cold forming cannot achieve. This series covers pins, stepped shafts, hollow rivets, axle parts, knurled adjusting knobs, bearing housings and large threaded bodies such as hex nuts and turnbuckle blanks. The basic CNC lathe design and production manufacturing require very high precision in every link: a few hundredths of a millimeter in bore or shoulder position can decide whether an assembly runs smoothly or fails. Our process machines each part in a single clamping wherever possible, so the bore, flange face, groove and thread share the same datum and cumulative error is avoided. Grooves, flats, cross holes, knurling and internal or external threads are completed in the same cycle, and surfaces are finished smooth for sliding fits and sealing faces. Materials include stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, aluminum alloy and engineering plastics [TBC]; surface options are zinc plating, nickel plating, black oxide, anodizing and polishing. Dimensional inspection uses micrometers, bore gauges and profile projectors, with first-article reports for new parts and sampling inspection for repeat orders. Material certificates can accompany the shipment. Typical applications are motors, sensors, hinges, locks, instruments, idler wheels, conveyor rollers, gearbox adapters, rigging hardware, audio equipment and machine controls. We can produce the products you need according to the design drawings you provide, from a single prototype to mass production, and small trial orders are always welcome before volume commitments. For turned parts, the drawing should state three things beyond dimensions: critical tolerances, surface roughness and the datum used for inspection. When a part has a bore, a flange face and a thread, we machine them in one clamping so all three share a datum; if your drawing dimensions them from three different faces, cost rises because extra setups are needed. Surface roughness matters most on sealing faces, sliding bores and press fits - Ra 0.8 or better is achievable on our lathes, and we will confirm feasibility for tighter values. For prototypes we normally deliver in 5 to 7 working days after drawing approval, and the first article report includes all critical dimensions, material certificate and surface finish results, so your engineering team can approve with evidence rather than by feel. Turned parts are also where small design changes save the most money: a chamfer instead of a sharp internal corner, a standard thread instead of a special one, or a slightly wider tolerance on a non-functional diameter can cut cycle time noticeably, and we will point these out at quotation stage while still quoting the drawing exactly as received.
